One person was hospitalized Monday evening following a single-vehicle accident that occurred in the 8000 block of Patrick Henry Highway.

Meherrin Fire & Rescue Chief Trey Pyle said Tuesday the accident that caused the vehicle to overturn occurred approximately 7:40 p.m.

“Driver was removed by bystanders due to heavy fuel leaking,” Pyle said about the accident.

Pyle said the driver of the vehicle was transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital. He said the cause of the accident is under investigation. Pyle said Wednesday the condition of the driver isn’t known.
