Buckingham County High School is hosting College Night, March 4 from 6-8:30 p.m., including a pizza dinner for students and parents. This is open to current 10th and 11th-graders. Discussions will include scholarships, why students should go to college, what type of college is the right one, and how to pay for college. This event kicks off the March Madness initiative to get juniors started on the college application process.

Please join agricultural experts from around the country to discuss important agricultural issues impacting farmers and agribusiness today. The 2019 Virginia Agricultural Labor Forum will be held Thursday, March 7, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (lunch provided) to be held at Longwood University Dorrill Dining Hall, Nance Room, 201 High St., Farmville. Topics include: Immigration Reform Status; Is H-2A an Option for My Farm Operation? -Pros and Cons; Wage & Hour Audits- Top Violations & How to be Prepared; Worker Protection Standards for 2019; Tax & Health Insurance Considerations for a Seasonal Workforce; I-9 Completion & Audits, and much more. The next Curdsville Community Center meeting will be Monday at 6:30 p.m. The program will include a presentation from Amy White from the Buckingham Public Library. She will give information on the proposed library for Buckingham County. Everyone is welcome. Bring a covered dish or dessert. The community center is located at 122 School Road, just off U.S. Route 15, 2 miles north of Sheppards.

Gardening Tips and Topics workshop will be conducted by the Heart of Virginia Master Gardeners. The first session starts Saturday, March 9, 10 a.m. at the Buckingham Extension Office (54 Administration Lane, Buckingham). There is no sign-up required and no charge. Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions from 9:30- 11:30 a.m.

The Dillwyn Fire Department will be selling stew Saturday. Stew will be ready by noon. Come by and get some.
