Bible Bee held

Central Virginia Christian School hosted its annual Elementary School Bible Bee on Jan. 24. Students competed in classroom Bible Bees to advance to the school Bible Bee. Winning this year’s competition was fifth-grader Emma Ranson. Placing second was fourth-grader Elijah Canipe. The Buckingham County Public Library is having a Valentine celebration on Saturday, including fun and games. Come any time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to make a card and a special gift. Storytime and craft time also available during this event. The library is located at 1140 Main St., Dillwyn.

Cedar Baptist at 3932 Bell Road in Dillwyn would like to welcome everyone to a Valentines Dinner on Sunday at 5 p.m. Following dinner, those attending will enjoy a time of fun and games. Everyone is welcome to join.

The next Buckingham TRIAD meeting will be held on Feb. 14 at 1:30 p.m. The location of the meeting is the VFW Hall on Route 60 at Buckingham Courthouse. TRIAD is a combination of Seniors, Law Enforcement and Community who are interested in making the public aware of scams, activities for seniors, as well as community involvement geared to the aging population. They also make the community aware of resources available to seniors to assure their safety and well-being.

The Virginia Cooperative Extension – Buckingham office is offering a Between the Pages program for Buckingham primary school youth. Come explore the pages of a new book every week, participate in hands-on activities, and play fun games. This program will be held at the Buckingham elementary school cafeteria every Monday, Feb, 11 through March 18 from 3:30 – 4:45 p.m. For more information, contact the extension office at (434) 969-4261.

The Buckingham 4-H Livestock Club held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 6:30 p.m. at the Virginia Cooperative Extension – Buckingham office. The main agenda item was the election of club officers. Those elected included: Tanner Wise, president; Courtney Madison, vice president; Kelly Womack, treasurer; and Lottie May Hazlegrove, secretary. In addition to the elections, the club discussed completing the new record book. They also reviewed the Southern States Club Master program, as well as engaged in a group activity to emphasize the responsibility of caring for their club animals. The Friends of the Library are having a Wine and Cheese and Silent Auction fundraiser event on March 23 from 6-8 p.m. at the VFW Hall near Buckingham Courthouse. Stay tuned for more details.
