The Longwood Center for the Visual Arts (LCVA) is proud and honored to present its annual Start with Art, Learn for Life: The Annual Area Youth Art Exhibition, March 10 from 2-4 p.m. at LCVA. Friends, family and community members are invited to the reception, which is free and open to the public. The works will remain on view in LCVA’s Lower Level until April 7. This program is made possible in part through the support of Southside Electric Cooperative. All LCVA exhibitions and programs are made possible through the support of the Wells-Fargo Foundation, the Walter J. Payne Foundation, the E.B. Duff Charitable Lead Annuity Trust and Helton House.

For over 20 years the LCVA has organized and hosted the largest youth art exhibition in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This year’s exhibition includes more than 1,500 works of art created by pre-K to grade 12 students from 44 public, private and home schools in 11 counties and one borough, with the efforts of 49 art teachers. Participating counties include Amelia, Appomattox, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Goochland, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, Powhatan and Prince Edward.

There will also be a special installation within the exhibition featuring the work of the students at Prince Edward County Elementary School. More than 900 students, under the direction of Art Teachers Brooke Eamigh and Joy Utzinger, at Prince Edward County Elementary School created individual and group drawings, paintings and sculptures inspired by the theme “Around the World.”
