Region under flash flood warning

The Heart of Virginia is under a flash flood warning that would be in effect until 3:15 p.m., which includes Prince Edward and Cumberland.

Buckingham and Charlotte has also received a hazardous weather outlook for an isolated tornado threat.

“There is an isolated threat of very brief tornadoes today into this evening,” the National Weather Service (NWS) cited.

“Bands of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain will move north across the region producing up to 3 to 5 inches of rain
in some areas,” the NWS cited. “Flash flooding is likely in areas which experience heavy rain for more than one to two hours. This will case some roads to be closed and water could threaten some homes and businesses.”

 

The NWS encouraged readers to follow on the latest forecast and to prepare for any flood-related emergencies as flash flooding is dangerous.
