The Town of Farmville and the Farmville Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy recently held a dedication and unveiling of the Historical Marker of the Farmville Confederate Cemetery. The marker, placed near the entrance to the cemetery property, recognizes the existence of the cemetery and its connection to the Farmville General Hospital, which served the area from 1862-1865. Patients who died in the Farmville General Hospital were interred in the Farmville Confederate Cemetery. The unmarked graves are honored in the cemetery by a monument erected in 1903. Pictured are, from left, seated, Ruth Easter and Flora Bolt; standing, Angie Coppedge, Deborah Lundeen, Deserae Bowlin, Frances Giles and Kathryn Powell.
