March through Farmville

Protestors that made up residents from The Heart of Virginia and Virginia-based organizations held a march through downtown Farmville Sunday afternoon to protest the Farmville Detention Center, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility and the ICE organization, including recent announcements that permitted separation of immigrant children and parents at the southwestern border.

People, not deterred by hot weather, held signs and gave chants such as “No hate, no fear, immigrants are welcome here” and “This is what Democracy looks like,”  through North and South Main Street and the Prince Edward County courthouse.
