On Tuesday, July 10, Magi Van Eps, Tourism and Visitor Center Coordinator for Prince Edward County, was presented the 2017 Manager of the Year Award at the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors meeting. The “Virgo Award” is sponsored by the Virginia Association of Destination Marketing Organizations (VADMO), which supports destination marketing organizations (visitor centers) and the development of tourism and travel professionals in Virginia.
“As the presiding member of Virginia’s Crossroads consortium (representing Prince Edward County), Magi Van Eps stepped up to lead the 11 county and one city organization into a new era of growth and tourism viability,” stated Jennifer Eddy, co-owner of Eddy Alexander, the firm that led Virginia’s Retreat through the rebranding to Virginia’s Crossroads.
The Virgo Awards pay tribute to individuals, groups, businesses and destination marketing organizations that have significantly contributed to the Commonwealth of Virginia’s economy through tourism promotion and development. Formerly Virginia’s Retreat, the Virginia’s Crossroads consortium has now completed two successful years under Van Eps’ direction.
Pattie Cooper-Jones, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors commented, “We are proud of Magi and the time and work she has dedicated to the Visitor’s Center and Prince Edward County. This award is a testimony to her commitment and hard work.”
Van Eps has worked as Prince Edward County’s Tourism and Visitor Center Coordinator managing Virginia’s Heartland Regional Visitor Center for almost 12 years.
