Be happy with what we have

We are never happy people, are we? If it rains we want it to stop, if it stops we want some rain, if it is hot we want it cold and if it is cold we want it hot. Let us be happy with what our Lord gives us.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton have returned home after spending a few days in Roanoke attending the National Chenault Family reunion which was held in the Hotel Roanoke this year. Cousins from all over were in attendance. They came from California, Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas and all parts of Virginia. Everyone had a wonderful time over the three-day reunion.

Last Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. Barry Howe had Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith to join them for dinner at their home.

Flora Bolt attended the United Daughters of the Confederacy meeting Wednesday, July 11, at the Farmville/Prince Edward Library. Dserae Bowlin and Flora Bolt enjoyed dinner at the Huddle House following the meeting.

Sunday, July 15, following church services, Judy Bolt was honored for her birthday at her home with a luncheon. Chris Bolt grilled chicken, Jennifer Jones made a banana pudding and Alexa Moser made a cheesecake. Those attending were Jennifer and Trae Jones and son Thomas, Chris Bolt, Alexa Moser, Flora Bolt, Steve Bolt and Judy’s Uncle Bob Johnson of Richmond. Judy’s birthday was July 19.

Friends and neighbors continue to pray for Anita French, Judy Derflinger, Betty Meadows, Don Meadows and Betty Jean Bolt.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle welcomes you to worship with them each Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect welcomes you to come and worship with them every Sunday. Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with Worship at 11 a.m.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville welcomes you to worship with them Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and each week Wednesday evening for Bible study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The Church is located at 302 Industrial Park Road, in the former Stackpole- Carbone building.

The Remnant Church welcomes you to worship with them Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m., Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday nights at 6:30 p.m. The pastor is Jeff Spencer. The church is located at 1825 E. Third St., Farmville in the old Cedar Brook Restaurant building. Concord Baptist Church at 12053 Francisco Road, Farmville welcomes you to its Sunday School at 10 a.m. with Worship service at 11 a.m.
