Worlds join up

I’d like to address a special aspect of the recent Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity home dedication that took place in Cumberland County. To do that, I need to first establish the full scope of what we do news-wise here at Farmville Newsmedia, LLC.
We have the responsibility of providing coverage to Buckingham, Cumberland and Prince Edward counties through The Farmville Herald, Lunenburg County through The Kenbridge-Victoria Dispatch and Charlotte County through The Charlotte Gazette.
Each of those publications and counties typically represent their own world, featuring their own set of news stories each week. Occasionally, those worlds will collide.
It was exciting to be at the Mullins family home dedication June 10 and see nearly all of those worlds represented.
Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity itself represents Prince Edward along with Buckingham, Cumberland and Charlotte, and this was the organization’s first home build in Cumberland. Cumberland County Public Schools helped make the overall project a reality. Citizens from Buckingham County were on hand for the dedication, having also helped with the build.
Approximately 20 students from the Kindness Matters club at Central Lunenburg High School provided aid during the construction process.
During the dedication ceremony, Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity Community Outreach Director Sam Rabon noted that some of the people who helped with this build also contributed to a project in Charlotte County.
