Barbara Chernault Fore, 83, of Forest passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018. She was the wife of the late Richard E. Fore, Jr.

Born in Prospect, Virginia, June 25, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Chernault and Zella Harris Chernault. She was retired from Hampden Sydney College where she served as the secretary to the Dean of Student for 25 years. Barbara was an avid reader and loved maintaining her flower garden at home.

She is survived by three children, Richard E. Fore, III and Laurie of Charlottesville, Jacqueline F. McQuaid of Forest and Stephen T. Fore of Meherrin; seven grandchildren, Kristen Hassan and her husband Jay, James Fore and his wife Linda, Erin Carstairs and her husband Derek, Stephanie Cox and her husband John, Jessica Wood, Clayton Fore and his wife Windy and Neal Fore and nine great-grandchildren.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. There was a time of remembering Mrs. Fore by her children at 7:30 p.m
