Family Dollar at 925 S. Main St. is already up and running, but the store will hold a grand opening May 12.

Store Manager Lillian Allen confirmed that the store’s soft opening was Thursday.

Allen and Project Manager Chuck Thompson said the 10,200 square-foot store will be larger than the previous Family Dollar location in the Town of Farmville.

Thompson and Allen said that there will also be more food items, and household and beauty items.

Thompson said the store will have eight employees, three full-time employees and five part-time employees.

The grand opening for the Family Dollar, Allen said, will be May 12 at 8 a.m.

Thompson noted that there will be “giveaways for the first 50 customers.”

Family Dollar is a retail store franchise that offers discounted prices on household items, grocery items, beauty items and toys among other products.
