DEDICATION OF HISTORICAL SIGN, 3 p.m. for the Farmville Confederate Cemetery at the entrance to the cemetery off Route 45. Everyone is welcome.

30TH ANNUAL CLEAN THE BAY DAY, 1 p.m. Meet at Camp Paradise parking access. Volunteers should be prepared to walk through weeds and mud — wear work clothes, old shoes, gloves and sunscreen and bring bottled water and bug spray.
YARD SALE, 8 a.m. – noon sponsored by Lutheran Women at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1301 Milnwood Road.
CHICKEN BBQ, ready by noon, sponsored by the Cumberland Fire Department Auxiliary at the firehouse on Route 13, Old Buckingham Road, Cumberland. Sold as dinners or as individual quarters. Eat in or takeout. All proceeds will benefit the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department.

CHILDREN’S DAY SERVICE, 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church. Guest minister will be Minister Larry Williams, associate minister of the Union Baptist Church in Crewe. Midway is located at 837 Guinea Road. All are welcome.
MEN’S DAY CELEBRATION, 3 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 14167 Farmville Road, Meherrin. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Vincent Eanes from Lone Oak Baptist Church, Keysville accompanied by his male choir and congregation.

2018 SAFETY AND SECURITY PROGRAM, 9 a.m. – noon sponsored by The Rocky Mount Baptist Church and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office to be held at the church. RANGER CHALLENGE, 1-3:30 p.m. sponsored by The Friends of Twin Lakes State Park. This event is open to youth 14 years old and younger with a parent or other adult partner. Teams will compete in the backyard bass casting game, a canoeing challenge, a corn hole challenge and an obstacle course. Prizes will be given in two age categories. The award ceremony will be at 4 p.m. The same parent may participate in more than one team with each of their children. Register at “The Spot” on the day of the event. The rain date is June 17.
