Brickhill, Gormus get top honors

The valedictorian and salutatorian are the graduates with the highest and second highest grade point averages in the senior class.

VALDICTORIAN

Daniel Brickhill

Daniel Brickhill has proudly called Buckingham County home for his entire life. He is the son of Cherie Brickhill and the grandson of Danny and Linda Elder. Daniel is graduating with an associate degree from Southside Virginia Community College and attended Governor School. During his time in high school, Daniel has served as captain of the varsity football team and has played varsity basketball and soccer. He has served as Senior Class President, Parliamentarian of the Student Council Association, Vice-President of the Future Business Leaders of America, President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and Straight Street. Daniel hopes that his future career will allow him to spend the rest of his life interacting with and influencing people on a personal level. This fall, Daniel will attend Harvard, where he plans on concentrating in Government.

SALUTATORIAN

Emily Gormus

Emily Gormus is the daughter of Michael Gormus and Wendy Gormus and the sister of Jason and Clay Gormus. She grew up in Buckingham and has lived here her entire life. Gormus is graduating with an associate degree from Southside Virginia Community College. She is a member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society, FBLA and FCA. She recently competed at the FBLA State Leadership Conference where she qualified for National competition in the category of Global Business. Gormus has played sports throughout her high school career. She played softball five years and was captain both her junior and senior year and made second Team All-State last year. She also played volleyball four years and was named Team MVP this year. She is a member of Cedar Baptist Church. Gormus will be attending Bridgewater College this fall where she plans to pursue a degree in Sociology.
