No members of the public spoke during the public hearing.

Ordinance No. 187, passed by members of the council, will change its current price to install water and sewer in residential and commercial properties, $2,000, and revert it to its original price of $4,500.

The ordinance will offer a rebate to residents or commercial properties of approximately $2,000 if water or sewer had been installed at the properties between July 1, 2017, and June 30, 2018.

Town Manager Gerald Spates said the decision to change the water prices from $4,500 to $2,000 took place July 2107 and has been in effect for approximately a year.

Ward E Councilmember J. J. “Jamie” Davis said the decision to revert the prices back to their original price could mean an increase of revenue, particularly with the rise of commercial properties coming to the area.

“I know that the recommendation to actually enact that discount for the taps came out of Ms. Thompson’s committee when she was with us, and it has proved to be a very good indicator for growth,” Davis said.
