Junior right-handed pitcher Sydney Gay, pictured above, led Longwood University’s softball team to a 2-1 victory over visiting Hampton University on Tuesday with a season-high 11 strikeouts. She gave up just four hits and one unearned run in her seventh complete-game performance of the season, throwing 98 pitches, including 71 for strikes.
