The Prince Edward County Middle School Advanced Band recently traveled to Goochland High School for the Virginia Band & Orchestra Directors Association District 3 Assessment. There are no awards given at Assessment — every band is assessed by a panel of three judges for their prepared concert, and one judge for sight reading. Bands are evaluated on tone quality, intonation, technique, rhythm, balance, musicianship and general factors which are then combined for an overall score from each judge. The band received ratings of excellent and good for concert performance and a rating of excellent in sight reading. The band is conducted by David Ganzert. Pictured are, from left, front row, Savannah Loveday, Thomas Hamilton, Kathryn McElfresh, Ganzert; second row, Nicholas Magill, Joshua Tobias, Jackson Overton, Andrew Godfrey, Austin Crenshaw, Bronwyn Rider, Gabrielle Roldan; third row, Lucas Dudley, Griffin Beach, Steven Hayden, Nathan Hamilton, Ronald Carricato III; back row, Patrick Sacra, Summer Boettcher, Walker Mahan, Timothy Slater, Caleb Camp and Joshua Meadows.
