Prince Edward County High School’s varsity baseball team traveled to Cumberland County High School on Thursday for a James River District showdown in the Heart of Virginia. The young Dukes are still looking for their first win, but they took a lead early in the game Thursday before the surging Eagles were able to pull away for their second consecutive 10-3 victory. They topped host Buckingham County High School by that same score April 17. Pictured above, Cumberland junior catcher Cole Fillman, left, looks to get an out as a runner scrambles back to base. On the right, Prince Edward sophomore Isaih Dailey looks on, waiting for the play to resolve before he continues his at-bat. The Dukes (0-8), who visited Goochland High School on Monday, host Central Lunenburg High School on Thursday at 5 p.m. The Eagles (6-3) host Randolph-Henry High School on Thursday at 5 p.m.
