Cross-generational reading program

Fuqua School’s kindergarten and first grade classes were invited by The Woodland Inc., to participate in a cross-generational reading program. Residents read to small groups of students from a variety of children’s books. Following the readings, the residents and students chatted about school, pets, favorite meals and family traditions. Plans are underway for the Lower School to visit The Woodland in the near future for cross-generational readings on a monthly basis allowing both residents and students the opportunity to read to one another and to enjoy each others company. Pictured are, Sharon Akers, Woodland resident, reading to the Fuqua classes with first-grader Reece Pembelton listening carefully. We commend Fuqua School and The Woodland on the cross-generational reading program which will benefit these young students and residents of The Woodland.
