Car, motorcycle accident on Main

An accident involving a car and motorcycle at the intersection of Main and Second streets in downtown Farmville on Sunday afternoon resulted in the motorcyclist being transported to the hospital.

Farmville Police Department, Farmville Fire Department and Prince Edward County Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to the incident, which took place at 4:47 p.m., police said.

Farmville Police Officer Matthew McMillian said the vehicle involved in the accident was traveling north on Main Street and failed to yield right of way before making a left turn onto Second Street.

The motorcycle was coming south on Main Street, and the car and motorcycle collided at the intersection.

McMillian said the motorcyclist was transported to the Centra Southside Community Hospital.

Sgt. H.A. Hoyle said the injuries of the driver of the motorcycle were not life-threatening.

Hoyle said the driver of the vehicle was charged with failure to yield right of way.
