Get a chance to support area fire departments and even see the Appomattox River dyed green during a series of events over the weekend celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

Virginia Tasting Cellar is set to hold a day-long party from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., featuring the band Porch Dogs.

While band member Everette Mann said his and bandmate Keith Kendrick’s two dogs, Bailey and Roxy, won’t be able to attend the event Saturday, he said he and band member Keith Kendrick will play a special selection of Irish tunes. Besides the tunes, Porch Dogs also plays Americana, rock, oldies and blues.

For those over 21, take the night to dance and donate efforts toward two area fire departments.

The Cumberland Fire Department Auxiliary is sponsoring a dance, taking place at 8 p.m. at the firehouse on Route 13, located at Old Buckingham Road. The event will feature a Buckingham-based DJ, B. Hudd. Proceeds will support the Cumberland County Volunteer Fire Department. To learn more, visit the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary Facebook page.
