PSWCD offers scholarship

FARMVILLE — Each year, through the Lindy Hamlett Education Scholarship Fund, the Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District offers three $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors and college students. According to a press release. these scholarships give financial support to students planning to enroll or currently enrolled full-time in a curriculum related to natural resource conservation and/or environmental studies.
“While other majors may be considered, preference is given to applicants studying natural resource conservation or environmental studies,” officials said in the release. “Applicants must reside within Amelia, Nottoway or Prince Edward counties to be eligible for the scholarship. The deadline to submit applications is March 1.”
The District also offers scholarships for two high school students who wish to attend Youth Conservation Camp, a week-long summer camp hosted on the Virginia Tech campus.
