A vehicle fire Monday morning at a residential property on Gates-Bass Road in Rice yielded no injuries, according to Farmville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Dean Farmer. The Rice Volunteer Fire Department was first on the scene after a call about an SUV catching fire at a residential property occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. Monday morning. “No one was in the vehicle,” Farmer said, who noted the Farmville Department also responded to the incident. Farmer said that no one was injured as a result of the fire, but that the fire had resulted in a total loss of the vehicle.
