Marshall MacAuther “Peter” Newton, 74, of Arvonia passed away on Nov. 10, 2017. He was a retired employee of the Arvonia Buckingham Slate Quarry.

He is survived by his two children, Marshall (Mac) Newton, Jr. of New York and Crystal Donovant, of Danville; three sisters, Helen Noble, Phyllis (Sally) Newton and Sarah Spencer and her husband, James; a brother Howell L. B. Newton, all of Buckingham; eight grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howell and Georgia Newton and sister, Nancy Resnick.

Graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn.
