Christmas decorating contest set

The Prospect Historical Society is sponsoring a Christmas decoration contest for your door, house or yard. There will be three prizes and the cost to enter is $10. This is for anyone who lives within 10 miles of Prospect. You need to enter before Dec. 1 and the judging will take place on Dec. 19 after dark. Send your fee and complete driving directions to your home from Prospect Fire House to Margaret Stockton, sec’y; 10379 Prince Edward Highway in Prospect. Mark your calendar. Saturday, Nov. 18 will be the last Prospect Volunteer Fire Department auxiliary supper for the year, which will be their Pig Picking meal. The cost is a donation at the door with the time 5-7 p.m. The meal will consist of pulled pork, green beans, mashed potatoes, apples, bread, drinks and dessert.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle held a dedication service Sunday for the 188 Shoe Boxes they filled. The dedication blessing was given by Mrs. Shirley Robertson.

Mrs. Betty Meadows attended the Farmville Christmas Show at Steps and the open house at Rochette’s on Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meadows attended the Elvis Show at the Fireman’s Sports Arena on Saturday evening.

It was good to have the Rev. Bill Clark and wife Jane at Appomattox PE Presbyterian Church Sunday. The Rev Willie Thompson was guest speaker.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith attended the community Thanksgiving service held at Calvary Chapel Farmville on Sunday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Faraci along with Mr. and Mrs. George Moore and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton attended the dinner on Friday night at the Randolph Fire House. Betsy, Shirley and Margaret were glad they went as each of them won a door prize.

Richard and Margaret attended the Farmville Christmas Show at Steps and the open house at Rochette’s Florist on Saturday. They later visited with Scott Friend in Cumberland.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Betty Meadows, Judy Derflinger, Frances Southall, Randy Martin, Frances P. Motley of Hampton and Betty Jean Bolt.

Neighbors and friends are extending their heartfelt sympathy to the family of David Erwin.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday. Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with Worship at 11 a.m.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The Church is located at 302 Industrial Park Road, in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.

The Remnant Church invites you to worship with them on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m.; Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday nights at 6:30 p.m. The pastor is Jeff Spencer. The church is located at 1825 E. Third St. in Farmville in the old Cedar Brook Restaurant building.

Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Women will have a turkey dinner on Nov. 18 from 5-7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Carry-outs are available at 4 p.m. The price for the dinner is adults $10 and children $5. Directions are U.S. Route 15 south of Farmville about 12 miles and turn left onto Route 633. The church will be on the right after three tenths of a mile.
