So now it becomes a game of blame. Why did Gillespie lose, and what about our legislators? The new lieutenant governor wasted no time to talk about the “hate” in D.C. and Trump’s administration. I watched his ads and don’t recall hearing him turn that page. Was he hiding his real feelings?

We need healing, not more hate and not more empty rhetoric. The divisiveness in D.C. is what made this election and the last one look upside down. And unless we start focusing on putting our commonwealth and nation back together, elections will continue to look backward, disruptive and vindictive.

I hope (and all of us should hope) that our new governor and legislators understand the needs of our commonwealth and refuse to cater to one-sided divisive issues.
