Tragedy to charity

For Shannon and Tracy Armes, Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 started out as a day of joy and nervous excitement for their daughter’s due date the following day. It was Shannon’s last working day and induction was scheduled for Monday if their daughter didn’t arrive over the weekend. Sadly, the day took a tragic turn. After going into labor that afternoon, Shannon and Tracy arrived at the hospital to the shocking discovery that their daughter did not have a heartbeat. Skylar Jean Armes was delivered stillborn at 8:20 p.m. that evening, at which time it was determined an umbilical cord entanglement took her life only hours before.

According to a press release, Shannon and Tracy are recognizing Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and celebrating Skylar’s first birthday by performing random acts of kindness in her memory throughout the month of October.

“This year, they have organized a toy drive for Madeline’s House,” officials said in the release. “October is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month and, unfortunately, children are too often affected by abuse.”

“We hope the toy drive for Madeline’s House will enable friends and family to remember Skylar with joy while also bringing joy to the children at Madeline’s House,” says Shannon and Tracy.
