The September meeting of the Third Thursday Book Club was held at the home of Marty Dorrill. According to a press release, the speaker for the meeting was Lesley Stimpert, an elementary school librarian and wife of Dr. Larry Stimpert, who is president of Hampden-Sydney College (H-SC). “Mrs. Stimpert discussed the Dr Seuss Birthday Bash that was held in Feb. 2017 at (H-SC),” officials said in the release. “The event celebrated Dr. Seuss birthday and hosted area second grade students. There were games and activities that encouraged literacy and each child attending was given a Dr. Seuss book.” The release cited H-SC plans to continue this event in 2018.
