Mabel Weaver Taylor

Mabel Weaver Taylor, 91, passed away peacefully in Farmville, VA. Daughter of Ida and Semple Weaver and raised with sisters Mildred Jenkins, Lilly Banks, Pamela Dell Brooks, and dear brother Billy Weaver, who was lost in action in WWII. Lifelong member of the Pisgah Baptist Church. She went to Rice High School and State Normal, now Longwood University.

Mabel was married to the late Douglas Clyde Taylor, of Burkeville, VA. After the war, she worked for the DAR in Washington and then moved to Fredericksburg, VA where their three children Doug, Nancy, and Billy were raised. She was the first piano player for Spotswood Baptist Church and a full-time homemaker. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the caregivers at The Woodlands and especially her dear Yvonne Harris.

Mabel is survived by her three children and their spouses, Doug Taylor (Danette), Nancy Bubes (Alan), Billy Taylor (Denise), eight grandchildren, Chris, Ruthanne, Rachel, Nathan, Elizabeth, Andrew, Steven and Jennifer, and one great-grandchild, Leah.

Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. at Pisgah Baptist Church. Viewing with family will be held 12 noon at 807 Rice’s Depot Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pisgah Baptist Church, 202 Pisgah Church Rd., Rice, VA 23966.
