Redbud Garden Club met Sept. 17 at the Angola Hunt Club in Cumberland for its annual family picnic. According to a press release, Geraldine Sanderson, Nancy Schaeffer and Jo Smith served as hostesses. Will Sanderson led the group in prayer prior to the meal. The food, fun and fellowship was enjoyed by all in attendance. “Back to the Books,” an arrangement using a book and/or school accessory, earned blue ribbons for Dottie Fahrner, Ann Ligon, Geraldine Sanderson, Nancy Schaeffer, Sarah Schember and Jo Smith. A red ribbon was received by Liz Dunn and Janet Higgins. Blue ribbons were awarded to Rebecca Giles and Janet Higgins for “Eat Me,” an arrangement of cut fruits in the style of Edible Arrangements for the table. Specimen ribbons were awarded as follows: Rebecca Giles, four blue, two red; Janet Higgins, five blue, two red; Nancy Schaeffer, eight blue.
