Longwood Center for the Visual Arts’ (LCVA) Art After Dark Series Presents “Join the Instagram Revolution” with Dr. Alec Hosterman on Sept. 20. Doors open at 6 p.m. for refreshments and the program starts at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of the LCVA.
Hosterman, assistant professor of Communication Studies at Longwood University, will lead a hands-on workshop presenting a crash course in the basics of photography. He will be teaching both what works and what doesn’t.
Attendees will learn how to take images and edit images using Instagram filters, as well as how to manually edit images, how to choose the right hashtags to get noticed and how to publish images to multiple social media accounts.
Art after Dark replaces the formal “lecture” format normally associated with museums with interdisciplinary activities such as this art workshop. The evening gatherings have a relaxed atmosphere that encourages engaging conversation. All activities are completely free of charge and open to the public.
