Cumberland High School junior Tyler Kingsley was recognized at the September meeting of the Cumberland County School Board for attending the Washington Journalism and Media Conference.

According to a press release, each summer George Mason University welcomes high school student leaders from all over the country as National Youth Correspondents.

“The conference was held from July 9-14 and students had the opportunity to meet with innovative leaders in communications, media research, new media and electronic journalism,” officials said in the release. “Tyler noted that he plans to attend George University to major in communications, with a concentration in film.”

The release cited his ultimate career goal is to become a film director. He is the son of Drs. Daniel and Jennifer Kingsley, of Farmville.
