PEFYA Minors’ bats go cold in their World Series opener

The Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association (PEFYA) Minors All-Star team, representing Virginia, had a rough start to their play in the 2017 Dixie Youth Baseball AAA Minor League World Series on Saturday.
Arkansas prevailed 10-2 against the PEFYA Minors in the Oxford, Alabama-hosted double-elimination tourney.
“Our bats weren’t doing nothing tonight,” Virginia Manager Jerry Morgan said.
It was only the second loss this summer for the PEFYA Minors squad, which went undefeated in its district tournament and dropped one game in its winning state tourney run.
“I think nerves had a lot to do with it, just the big spotlight that they were in,” Morgan said of the second loss. “I’m hoping that the nerves got out, and they’re ready to play tomorrow.”
Virginia faces Louisiana Sunday at 4:30 p.m. EST.
