Juvenile struck by vehicle, sustains minor injuries

A juvenile was transported to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of South Main Street and Wynne Drive on Wednesday evening. Farmville Police Department Sgt. D.L. Bowman said the victim and a second female were crossing the crosswalk from Wynne Drive to reach a station wagon picking them up on the other side of the street. A vehicle traveling south on South Main Street struck the victim as she crossed the road, Bowman said. The driver of the vehicle was not charged, Capt. William “Bill” Hogan said. He said the victim, a female, was transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital for minor injuries, including abrasions and shoulder pain. Hogan said the incident was reported shortly before 5 p.m. The driver of the station wagon picking the victim up, William Copeland, said he witnessed the incident.
