Irby wins 200K in lottery
BLACKSTONE — Cynthia Irby, of Blackstone, won $200,000 in the Virginia Lottery’s Jewel 7s Scratcher Game.
According to a press release, Irby’s boss put the winning ticket in a safe until she went home for the day.
Irby bought the ticket from Market Place, located at 3825 South Crater Road in Petersburg.
This isn’t the biggest prize Irby has won recently. She said in the release that less than a year ago, she was reunited with the son she’d had to give up at birth 26 years ago.
Jewel 7s is one of dozens of Scratcher games available from the Virginia Lottery.
“Tickets can be Black Opal, White Pearl, Aqua Marine or Green Jade. Prizes range from $5 to $200,000,” officials said in the release. “The odds of winning the top prize in this game are 1 in 734,400. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 4.27.”
