The Piedmont Area Veterans Council is inviting all interested parties to attend its Community Veteran Engagement Meeting on Monday at the Farmville VFW beginning at 10:30 am.

The meeting will regard Matthew Hartman, “(the) mission director from the Honor Flight Program that recognizes American veterans for their sacrifices and achievements by flying veterans to Washington, D.C. to see their memorial at no cost,” officials said in a press release.

“Top priority is given to World War II and terminally-ill veterans from all wars. Honor Flight Network has expanded to include Korean War and Vietnam War veterans.”

In order for Honor Flight Network to achieve this goal, guardians fly with the veterans on every flight providing assistance and helping veterans have a safe experience, officials said.
