The Buckingham County Youth League (BCYL) Minor League All-Star team was eliminated Saturday from the State Dixie Youth Baseball AAA Minor League All-Star Tournament in Appomattox. The BCYL Minors played their first game in the tourney Friday against the Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association All-Star squad, falling 8-6, despite some key offensive contributions from Avery Schaeffer. In its second game of the double-elimination tournament, Buckingham took on the Salem All-Stars. Again, the BCYL Minors were competitive, but they ended up losing 7-4. Schaeffer, pictured above, contributed on the mound and at the plate. Buckingham finished the summer with a 3-2 overall record after going undefeated in their district tournament.
