A number of administrative changes have taken place recently at Prince Edward County Public Schools (PECPS).
According to a press release from the division, with the departure of former Prince Edward County High School (PECHS) Principal Zoltan Kerestely — who accepted an administrative position out of state — Gwendolyn McQuaige-Hicks, an assistant principal at PECHS, will serve as the school’s interim principal.
The division’s executive director of instruction and finance, Dr. Julie Gilliam, will continue serving in her current capacity in addition to serving as principal for Prince Edward County Middle School (PECMS).
“Current PECMS principal, Tammy Hurt, will assume a new position in the career and technical center with a focus on developing a new
STEM program for the division and grant writing,” school officials said in the release.
The release cited Dr. Maurice Smith, assistant principal at PECHS, will serve as assistant principal at PECMS.
“Jeanine Garrett, assistant principal at Prince Edward County Elementary School (PECES), will move to the same position at PECMS, replacing Zane Harshman, who resigned to accept the position of principal at Buckingham Middle School,” officials
said in the release.
According to the release, Keith Claassen and Teresa Vance have been hired as new assistant principals at PECES.
“I am excited about the strengths each administrator will bring to his or her new position and believe that these changes will further enhance the learning experiences for all of our students,” said Division Superintendent Dr. Barbara Johnson.
