Two teams from the Heart of Virginia became state champions Tuesday, earning the right to represent the state of Virginia in their World Series tournaments — the Buckingham County Youth League (BCYL) Majors All-Star team and the Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association (PEFYA) Ponytails All-Star team. Buckingham went undefeated in the state tournament in Victoria, qualifying for that level of play after going 4-1 in the district tournament that it hosted earlier in July. Prince Edward-Farmville went undefeated in its state tourney in South Hill as well, reaching that level of competition after going 3-0 in the district tournament of which it was also the host.
