‘Have a higher standard’

In the Wednesday, May 24, you published a letter which called another letter writer a name (“‘‘Obamacare has been a … failure,’” May 24).
Letters voicing opinions are designed to give readers another point of view and hopefully make people think.
For example, on the same page is a point of view about the history of the Civil War. There is no name calling there of specific individuals.
Those people who have anxiety and fear when confronted by a different opinion can probably find some comfort from their clergy.
The Farmville Herald should have a higher standard than to allow name calling.
