The Judith Randolph Longwood Chapter/NSDAR’s “Flag of the USA Essay Contest” winners for this year are Olivia Fortune, from Fuqua School, and McKenna Vogel, from Prince Edward Elementary School.
The statewide essay competition “What the American Flag means to Me” is offered to fourth-grade students and is sponsored by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, according to a press release. “Both students were presented with a Flag Of the USA Certificate and a flag pin at the chapter’s scholarships and awards service held March 14 at the Historic Farmville Train Station. Mrs. Rebecca Kelly and Mrs. Marilyn Osborn co-chair this committee.”
