ROMEO AND JULIET IN THE PARK, 8 p.m. at Appomattox Court House National Historical Park on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Gates open at 7 p.m. “Wolfbane’s Romeo and Juliet” is sure to please both theatre and history lovers alike with a hometown twist on this Shakespearean favorite. SUMMER WINE & BREW SERIES, 5-7 p.m. at the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts (LCVA) located at 129 N. Main St. There will be complimentary appetizers provided. The Summer Wine & Brew Series will continue each Friday throughout the summer until Aug. 26. Open to the public.

JUNE 23-24

VBS DAY CAMP, at Maysville Baptist, 13329 W. James Anderson Hwy., Buckingham, entitled “Galactic Starveyors,” June 23-24, ages 4-12 grade, Friday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. All are invited to lunch and closing program on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Early drop-off and late pick-up available. JUNE 24

PECHS CLASS OF 1987 REUNION, 6-10 p.m. Celebrate with a formal banquet at Longwood University’s Blackwell Hall. More than 80 alumni and faculty will be in attendance. Guest speaker is Dr. Odessa H. Pride.

FISH FRY, 11 a.m. sponsored by the missionary department at the Frances Redwood Educational Center at the Union Branch Baptist Church, Arvonia. Come out for good food and fellowship.

BENEFIT SCHOLARSHIP FUND, 4 p.m. sponsored by the Youth Ministry of Mt. Zion Second Baptist Church. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Adam Freeman, associate minister at Old Green Creek Baptist Church and The Traveling Angels of Farmville will be ministering in songs.

JUNE 25

36TH ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of The Mighty Southerneers, of Lawrenceville, at the New Mt. Sinai Church, Brodnax. Invited guests include Lil Miss MiKayla Young, Miss Cabre Walker, Miss Takera Walker, The Jacox Sisters, Mrs. Fannie Moore, Nu Beginnin, The Barnes Special, C&C Ministries, Blessed Too, The Spiritual Disciples, The Meherrin Male Chorus and Brother Joel Holmes and the Celestals. The mistress of ceremony will be Nicole Young.

MISSIONARY DAY, 3 p.m. at Aspen Hill Baptist Church, Brookneal. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Lloyd Wesley, pastor of the Mt. Ellis Baptist Church, accompanied by his choir and church family. A repast will be served after the service. Come and be blessed.

17TH CHORUS ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of the Sharon Baptist Male Chorus of Cumberland. Special guests are the Peaks Baptist Male Chorus, of Prospect, and the New Bethel Community Male Chorus, of Meherrin. Sharon Baptist is located at 1130 Plank Road in Cumberland. The Rev. Robert Jones is the pastor.

SECOND ADULT CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Upper Room Baptist Church, Tuggle Road, Farmville. Guest choirs will render the music. Light refreshments will be served before the program, from 1-2:15 p.m. The Rev. Stanley Wesley is the pastor.

ANNUAL MEN’S DAY, 3 p.m. for the men of Mercy Seat Baptist Church. The Royal Supremes, of Farmville, will be the musical guests for the day. The public is cordially invited to attend. The Rev. Walter M. Fells is the pastor.

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Theme: “Making it Happen Today, Not Tomorrow.” Several musical guests will appear. All are welcome.

ANNUAL WOMEN’S DAY, 3 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church located at 2072 Abilene Road, Keysville. Pastor Betty Jones from the Apostolic Faith Church of All Nations will deliver the word. Everyone is invited to join us for this event to “Get back up and be Restored.”

YOUTH DAY, 11 a.m. at New Witt Baptist Church, Farmville Highway, U.S. Route 15, Farmville. The guest minister will be Rev. Thomas Wynn, of McKenney. The Rev. Winston Bland is the pastor. The public is invited.

JUNE 25-28

HOMECOMING AND REVIVAL, at Green Creek New Site Baptist Church, River Road, 3.3 miles from Appomattox Bridge in Farmville. The Rev. John Smith will preach the word for the morning service. Lunch will be served after the 11 a.m. worship service. Revival will begin Monday with different preachers, choirs and ushers accompanying their pastor. Prayer and praise service starts at 7:30 p.m. with worship at 8 p.m.

JUNE 26

SUMMER AT THE PARK WORKSHOP, 10 a.m. sponsored by the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, the American Civil War Museum-Appomattox and Wolfbane Productions for students ages 14-18. Students will study history and theatre with knowledgeable park rangers and the professional company of Wolfbane’s upcoming “Romeo and Juliet.” Tuition is $150 for the week and includes lunch, materials and two complimentary tickets to the show.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, 6-8 p.m. at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1835 Cumberland Road, Farmville.

JUNE 26-29

ANNUAL REVIVAL 7 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. Guest evangelist will be the Rev. Charles Simms, pastor of the Morning Valley Baptist Church in Dillwyn. This year’s services will be held at the Francis Redwood Center, located on U.S. Route 15, James Madison Highway. The Rev. Donnie W. Brown is pastor.

JUNE 26-30

ANNUAL REVIVAL, 7:30 p.m. at Lone Oak Baptist Church. Different choirs will render spiritual songs each night. The Rev. Isiah Hurt, of Keysville, pastor of Tabernacle Baptist and Gill Hill Baptist, will be the guest speaker. Everyone is welcome to come and worship.

JUNE 28

CALL FOR AID, U.S. Rep. Tom Garrett visited Sudan and arranged for the release of three missionary prisoners. One missionary was returned to his Czech homeland. Two missionaries (one with a family) will be relocated to this area. These missionaries and family need aid in the way of personal hygiene items, household cleaning items, food and clothing. In lieu of clothing items, please donate a Walmart gift card so they can purchase the basic clothing they need. Please donate only non-perishable food items. Items must be donated before June 28. FIREWORKS AFTER DARK, gates open at 4:30 p.m. at the Farmville Regional Airport, 130 Wedgwood Dr., Farmville, featuring TFC Band, Moosetrap Band and Tommy Fleshman. Coolers are welcome but no glass bottles and no pets permitted. Cost is $5 per vehicle at the gate.

JULY 7-12

SUMMER READING PROGRAM, 2-3 p.m. at the Barbara Rose Johns Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library. Included will be visits from local state parks, a scavenger hunt and indoor mini golf. Visit cvrl.net for more details.

CONCERT, 3 p.m. featuring Deacon Perry Carrington and The Voices of Unity, at New Hope Baptist Church, 2072 Abilene Road, Keysville, to benefit the building fund. The Rev. Vatell Allen is pastor. Come join us and be blessed.

PASTOR AIDE ANNIVERSARY ANNUAL DAY, 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church, 837 Guinea Road, Farmville. Rev. Cavell Phillips, assistant pastor of the Richmond Christian Center and gospel radio announcer on UpBeat 106.5 is every Sunday morning from 6:30-10 a.m., will deliver the preached word. The Rev. Irma T. Watson is pastor. All are invited.

JULY 30

WORSHIP AT THE LAKE, 10 a.m. at Farmville United Methodist Church. There will be a potluck lunch after the service. Please bring a lawn chair.

GIFTS AND TALENTS FOR CHRIST SERVICE, 3 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church, 837 Guinea Road, Farmville. This service will consist of various gifts and talents of singing, praise dancing and poem readings. The Rev. Irma T. Watson is pastor. All are invited.

AUGUST 6-10

4-H SHOOTING EDUCATION CAMP, at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center located at 1267 4-H Camp Road, Appomattox. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 12-16 with interest and/or experience with firearms. All instructors are certified through 4-H, VDGIF, NRA, NAA and other national organizations.
