A Farmville man who was indicted in November for allegedly sexually assaulting a female minor is set to stand trial Thursday in Prince Edward County Circuit Court and in Cumberland County Circuit Court on July 17.
Michael Tyrone Booker was indicted by a Prince Edward County Grand Jury on four counts of sodomy — two of the counts being with a family member and two with a victim of 13 years or younger — and two counts of aggravated sexual battery of a victim 13 years or younger and two counts of indecent act with child by parent.
Court records indicate charges Booker faces in Cumberland include two counts of parent violating a child 15 years or younger, two counts of sodomy with a victim 13 years or younger, two counts of aggravated sexual battery with a victim 13 years or younger and two counts of indecent act with child by parent.
In September, Cumberland County Sheriff Darrell Hodges said the allegations went back three years.
“It started in Cumberland and then continued in Prince Edward,” Hodges said in a previous interview.
Records show Booker was once charged in Cumberland County with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, but the charge was withdrawn before trial in August 1998.
In Prince Edward County, Booker pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine in December 2006.
