Tigers silence Hornets, reach ODAC semis

The fourth-seeded Hampden-Sydney College (H-SC) lacrosse team routed visiting No. 5 Shenandoah University 18-4 Tuesday in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament quarterfinals. With the victory, the Tigers tied their season record for wins with 13. Junior Hunter Brown, pictured above on the left from a previous match, led H-SC offensively Tuesday, posting six points via four goals and two assists. In doing so, he broke the school record for single-season midfielder points. He has 71 for the season, surpassing Kyle Jett’s 68 points in 2010. Senior Jared Arntzen won 11 of 14 face-offs with nine ground balls, and senior Duncan Morris scored four goals, adding one assist. The Tigers (13-5) advance to the ODAC Tournament semifinals Friday, facing host No. 1 Washington and Lee University (10-6) at 4 p.m.
