A hearing will be held July 25 for Simon Carl Lark, 23, who was charged May 11 with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with the shooting death of a 35-year-old Pamplin man.

“My officers responded and they found the victim … (Darnell M. Green), 35-years-old, of Pamplin, had been shot,” Prince Edward County Sheriff Wesley Reed said in previous interview. “He was transported to (Centra) Southside Community Hospital, (where) he was pronounced dead at that point in time.”

According to Reed, authorities are still searching for a second suspect, Mario Redfearn, an African-American male, in connection to the case.

Reed said deputies arrived at 170 Holiday Hills Dr. following a call received at approximately 2:04 p.m. May 11.
