Agencies support a great cause

When the Farmville Police Department — joining forces with other agencies in the community — held its Law Enforcement Torch Run 5K in support of the Virginia Special Olympics, it did more than raise nearly $2,000 for Special Olympics. It also brought law enforcement and other agencies together to raise awareness for those with special needs. According to Patrol Cpl. Chris Hudson, 25 volunteers showed up from different agencies for the torch run, including those from the Farmville Police Department, Longwood University Police Department, Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office, Farmville Volunteer Fire Department and Prince Edward County Volunteer Rescue Squad along with numerous town and county citizens. We commend police for rallying behind such an important cause.
