More than 75 members of the Farmville community united Friday at the Virginia Tasting Cellar in downtown Famville in support of the March of Dimes, raising hundreds of dollars for the organization.

Centra Southside Community Hospital hosted the event.

“The event was lots of fun, with perfect weather and a great view of the river!” said Hospital Marketing Director Kerry Mossler.

“We do a push every year to raise money for the March of Dimes,” she said in a previous interview. “We typically do a walk. We do a fun run, we do a bake sale, and this year, we’re trying a wine tasting. We had done one for the United Way last year, and it was very successful,” Mossler said.

Those who attended and participated in the fundraiser paid $12 at the door, $5 of which will go directly to the March of Dimes “to help fight premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality.”

Those who attended received a glass and 10 tastings from vineyards across the state.
