Rachel Whitehead has been named Longwood University Police Department’s newest female police officer. Whitehead began her training in July at the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy in Lynchburg. She graduated fifth in her class on Dec. 14, certifying her as an official police officer. She is the daughter of Steve and Phyllis Scruggs, of Abilene. Pictured with Whitehead is Longwood University Police Chief Robert Beach.
