Catharine Carty, psychiatric nurse practitioner, has joined Centra Mental Health Services in Lynchburg. She is working on the adult inpatient psychiatric unit at Virginia Baptist Hospital.

Carty received her master of science degree and a post-master’s nurse practitioner certificate in psychiatry/mental health from the University of Virginia. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg.

Carty’s clinical experience includes working in the adult and geriatric mental health units at Augusta Health in Fishersville and volunteering at the Augusta Regional Free Clinic. She also worked with Hospice of St. John in Denver, Colo.

Carty is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, the Virginia Rural Health Association and the American Nurses Association.
