Farmville-area residents interested in going solar have two more weeks to sign up for the local solar co-op. According to a press release, the 50-member group is open to new members through the end of October. The co-op formed to make it easy for members to save on the installation of solar panels on their homes. The group is working with VA SUN to learn about solar.
Joining the group is not a commitment to purchase panels. Co-op members selected Richmond-based installer Sustainable Technology Institute through an open and competitive bidding process. All co-op members will receive a customized proposal from the company. At that point, participants can decide if going solar is right for them. Co-op members can save up to 20 percent off the cost of their installation by going solar with the group.
